Bought a Torsen differential from a member in classifieds.

I was set to send it to Paul at PRJ to do a once over on it regardless, but when I got it I had concerns.....

Seller was under the impression that the differential was good to go, had the updated washers, and was otherwise in working order...............

Inspection found the race bearing sleeve to be damaged and needed replacement. Diff case looked as if someone had beat on it with a hammer!!
Visual inspection showed the washers to be the original...........not the dual metal updated washers.......... and one of the planetary gear shafts wouldn't move freely.

Breaking down the differential, Paul found that the one shaft that wouldn't move freely had one of the washers welded to it from heat (exactly WHY the washers are supposed to be updated)..........needed to replace the shaft/gear/bearing for that planetary. Had to hunt down a new outer race bearing sleeve, and thankfully PRJ did have a set of washers since Transtar doesn't make them anymore.

All in all, the seller DID send me a partial refund to cover the cost of repair, minus shipping charges. I was happy with that, and now I have a usable torsen diff on it's way back to me!!!

    Without further words.............PICS
