Hi im 18 and i own a wjite 99 grand prix gt coupe right now im experiencing tranny problems and major rocker rust and alot of surface rust on wheel wells and probably behind some plastic parts behind engine places that cant be seen the engine and tranny have 252000 km on it but i herd alot of people saying the 3.8l can last up to 600000km i love this car since its my first but should i just part with it and buy a mint one later on or is this something i shouldnt "cry" about? The car would be stored under a tarp in a field.

Basically is this a money pit?

Agreed. Tarping in a field is about the worst thing you can do. It'll get condensation inside and ... well it's a mess.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

OP. If you want a mint GP, or any car, let me know. The cars down here in Texas are super clean and rust free. My 2000 has the original paint on the underside and not a spec of rust. Exhaust is all original. The car was originally from Kansas where they do get some bad winter weather.

I purchased the car from a shoddy little dealer hear in Fort Worth. It had a little over 100K. The cash lot sticker price was $2750. After I scanned it in the lot and discovered a bunch of DTC's I got it for $2200. It now has 203K and still not a spec of rust.

Shipping a car within the lower 48 will cost about $800-$1000 and well worth it. Where is Sudbury?
