Keep or delete res. for exhaust

Okay so went down to zzp todwy and picked up a 3" offroad downpipe without the cat and ubend.From there on ive decided to go with 2.5" but i cant decide whether i want to delete the resonator and put in a 2.5"but pipe or just keep it 2.25" all the way down to stock exhaust. I will be getting magnas soon so i figured why not just remove the res now. Will it sound really raspy without it. I talked ti a friend nd who works at zzp ans he said if i can find the flanges and a welder just delete the res while im down there and it wont lsound to bad. What do you guys think. If i do delete it it means ittl be 3"offroad DP to 2.5"but middle pipe then right before all the bends ittl run stock 2.25"all to mufflers

get a 3 diameter inch glass pack and use it for a res. or 2.50

Stock mufflers sound junky.

3800 without a resonator sounds even worse.

Wont a glasspack sound ricer and yeah i know it doesnt aound the best and i wont have iy for to long. But if im goin with magnas then is the glasspack really needed. Im just lookin for tips on working with what i have till i get the magna mufflers and tips. I mean if im best not removing the res for now i wont

the glass pack is the same thing as a resonator, i have one on my stock exhaust and its nice and quiet.

it takes the rasp out of the exhaust, cleans it up, and its a straight through pipe, nothing in it to slow down your exhaust flow.

i got a stock diameter 2.25 32 inch long, cut the tube off one side and welded a flange onto it so i could bolt it back to the cat, but you should be able to just clamp it on to the down pipe. and they are super cheap, this one cost 22 bucks at autozone.




i wonder if its still red lol its been on the car for a few months now. ill have to look someday.

Yeah cause im looking for thing thatll give me a deep low rumble. But still noticeable on acceleration. Do u have the 3"offroad dp on yours to with the glas .

no im all stock, but the res will take the sound you dont want away and let what you do want to hear come out.


i willing to bet what ever mufflers you put on, with a res it will sound cleaner.

from what i hear on the youtube and what not, they all sound good idling, (aftermarket mufflers) but when revved up ( or getting on it) they sound like crap with out a res.

that is why im opting for a solid stock exhaust when i get to modding, i haven't heard anything i really like except for a borla set up, and who really wants to spend that kind of money. but thats me and my taste.

When bought my car it had no resonator. After 1 month of ****ty drone I added this...



Now I couldn't be happier with my exhaust note.

yea deffinatly keep the res or you will have horrible rasp and a glasspack is like $25

Okay now that im set on glasspack anyone know where i can buy weldable flanges? Pep boys and autozone can only order em

i went to the local muffler shop, paid 10 cash for it.


but why would you need a flange if you have a dp ? it a open pipe no?

because my DP is flanged at the end to a 2.5" which will be where im attaching the Glasspack once i weld a flange onto the end of that

got ya, that will work.

i went and got the gasket i needed first, then went to the muffler shop, and matched up the gasket to flanges.

yup i got the gasket so i should be all set. Does either of these look like they will work. Sorry rough sketch but ill explain. Im using a pipe expander at some points. Sorry if this is hard to understand but try and do ur best to let me know if it looks correct.

Sketch 1: DP connects to glasspack with a 2.5"outlet and is 28" long, then clamped with a joint piece. Next the remaining 2.5" pipe will go over it and ill clamp that down also. Then goes back about 8" of pipe to finally connect the stock 2.25" to the 2.5" pipe

Sketch 2: Same method different order. And maybe i dont even need the joint pieces since i have the pipe expander.

what you could do is get a 2.25 glass pack so it fits the stock pipe on the back side, cut the tube off and weld the flange on the cut side, no reducers.

and i see you have a 28" inch glass pack marked there, get the 32", when you cut off the inlet tube you get 2 1/2 inches back, so you'll be a inch longer but it will still fit with the stock pipes, thats if the dp ends where the cat would leave off on a stock set up.
