That does not sound like a 3800.

    False advertising?

Nedativeone13: It's interesting trying to communicate with someone like you. You spend all your time in mommy's basement apartment and think you know it all from reading Motortrend. I have two forward gear selections on my transmission selector, A and M. In M I MANUALLY select which gear I want to be in and it goes to that gear. I hope that isn't too hard for you to comprehend.

Cool story, but I used to work at a Rice dealership, almost all cars have the same thing. If you're driving at high RPM and not shifting, the car eventually tells you to go f*ck yourself and shifts for you.

And as mentioned, regardless of every little small detail of the functionality, it still shifts sloppy and slow, and it's still horribly ineffective.

There is a reason tapshift isn't discussed much here, and that 90% of members slam on it. It's because it sucks. Sorry that news is too tough for you to handle, good luck out there, I'd hate to hear what you say when you find out FWD isn't as good as RWD.

Whats that check, did you check your brain at the door? When the selector is in M the transmission does not shift automatically. It's an automatic valve body that requires a MANUAL action to activate the shift. It's an automatic valve body in Manual mode.

I'm sorry you worked at a rice dealer ship, sucks to be you. Did you sell cars? I worked for Pontiac for years. Sorry for you I know more than you. I'm sure you get told to go f*ck yourself often. I'll bet a tapshift GP never told you that. I bet you have never driven one to redline. This isn't about FWD and RWD. And I'm have no problem with my tapshift.

Clearly you know more than me, your use of the English language more than proves that. And quite frankly, I enjoyed my time working at a Honda store. No, I didn't sell them, I just worked with the guys fixing them. You know, learning more than what the salesmen knew. Oh, and then there was the transport job. Where I moved cars between dealerships and auctions. The number of Comp-G GTP's I've driven probably comes close to the number most people have seen. You bet I've had plenty of time to mess around with them, that would include redlining a good few of them.

I'm impressed. But I bet none of them shifted up for you at redline, even if you remember it that way..

And I never said tapshift was great for shifting. It is good for getting in a lower gear while on the roll. I certainly would NOT recommend putting your car in M and racing by tapshifting.

I agree, I bought and drive and mod my car because I love it... a lot of people seem to really hate their car or ex-car on this forum... I dont get it, lol. It's "just a grand prix" sure, it's not a porsche or something special but I think it looks damn sharp for a 10,000 dollar car and lightly modded has plenty of go for me. Im not looking for a race car, Im looking for a car that I have fun driving.

I know for one thing, I keep it waxed and clean... and with my wheels I get a lot of compliments from strangers.

Mine isn't even fast but I love to get in and drive it. Only downfall is not having a stick, but that will be solved in a few years when school is done

My TAP shift will not upshift automatically in M, it will ride the rev limiter until I hit the button. It will downshift automatically but not upshift. I use mine every day because I drive a curvy mountain road and I can downshift before getting on the throttle which really helps launch out of the curves. It also keeps me from constantly shifting in and out of 4th and TCC lock like it does in D. There are hills that I know I will downshift on and with the TAP I can DS before I even start without taking my hands off the wheel. I can see where in most driving situations TAP would be completely useless but where I drive it is wonderful. Mine is not slow, maybe because of my PCM Tune, I dunno. Also, something worth noting, I get 3 more MPG making my drive to work in M than I do in D, and I tend to drive it harder in M.

Sorry to continue the thread jack, this just hit a nerve with me
