Hi my friend has a 1998 grand prix gtp and needed a new battery. When he went to pepboys to get one (bc its close) they said it needed a special type of bettery since it is supercharged. Ive never heard of anything like this before is this true? if so what kind of battery would you recommend.

You should have told them they are retarded and that it takes the same battery and see what they said.

Go to Oreillys and get a rebadged Delco which are the Superstart. They are made by Deka who invented the Delco battery design. Get the size 78-84 Extreme and you will get 3 yr free replacement and 84 month prorate warranty. Got mine 2 years ago and went thru winter with no problems at all. Started every time with no hesitation or hassle whatsoever. Get it and you wont be sorry...

the only difference is the sc cars get a higher cold cranking amps, (cca) i think mine is 800 vs a 600 for the NA. when i got my new interstate battery they asked if i had a gs, and they said ok its not that one then....and i got what was listed for the GS.

98 Buick Regal GS, F body brakes, Caddy STS wheels, tinted tails L36 bottom end, lightly ported heads, 1.95 roller rockers, headers, gen 5 N* 3.0 pulley, FSIC, 42 lb injectors, a BrandonHall rebuilt trans, DHP tuned and AEM water/Meth injection https://goo.gl/gpV5kW
