i prefer the 6th gen because it has a more simple, clean appearance. but i also like how the 7th gen is more modern looking.

I like the seventh gen better in overall look i just wish they came in coupe. Also not a big fan of the giant steering wheel on those sixth.

The decision between the two for me was the 6th by a landslide. I love it. Especially after u add something like a sd hook or something. Very slick.

If you want a coupe, 03 didn't have a coupe option... Which sucks cuz the black/blue metallic would be amazing as a coupe. Anyways, mine was given to me by my dad before he died and i always loved the car. I have more of a respect now for 04+ cars if they are done right. Like drunkies, Mr. Angrygtp's, or Dave albecks (victor smalls)... Those three alone made long strides with really making the 7th generation shine in my eyes.
With the right sized wheels and other specific body add ons, an 04+ can look even better than most 97-03's

97-03 actually look more bloated. meanwhile the 04+ look thinner, faster.

The only 97-03 id ever buy is a coupe. The sedans just plain look too bloated.

7th's are old enough to suffer from old car interior now.

6th Gen - Wide, sleek design. They just have a lower, flatter stance the way the body lines flow. By far my favorite, it's why I own a '98 and an '00.

7th Gen - Taller, Euro design. Most of the body lines stretch vertically giving it a taller look (headlights arc up, grills are taller) reminiscent of BMW style sport sedans.

The interior on the 7th gens just look way more impressive, but you can modify some of that stuff over from them to the 6th gens. Exterior wise, the wide profile I just love more. I know it's pretty much an optical illusion though since the 6th gens are only an inch wider and an inch shorter.
    '13 Stang - V6 MT82 - GHIG
    '00 Grand Prix SE - Pink (L67 Swapped/XP Cam/3.25")
'98 Grand Prix GTP - Black ($500 toy with broken trans. )
'01 Bonneville SE - Sitting on a hillside needing attention

Ive have both. Just go for looks really. Me I think a lowered 7th on rims not "gangsta" rims is muccchhhh better than a 6th. Still tho some bad ass 6ths too. Id go with
    7th tho

like what? id love to do that.

i dont like the taller grills on the 7th gens. i dont think the 7th gens are ugly. they definately grew on me. i just like the 6th gens way better. the 7th gens are definately over priced if you ask me. that definately helps consider a 6th gen.

    All the seats.

I like the 97-03's a lot better. Thats why I spent months searching for mine in 07. Stock for stock, they look way better IMO. You have to drop some cash into appearance mods on the 04+ to make them look good. Drunkie proved that.

03 GTP...Its got pulleys and stuff.

It depends on which you like more: hot face (6th), or nice ass (7th).
