The year or amount of doors?

Maybe the interior color or even the exterior?

MAF's are different in that year. Along with the airbox setups.

Not much, the coolant reservoir was moved to passenger side strut tower instead of by the air box.

<- wonders what year they switched from platinum to iridium spark plugs.
Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.

From 98 to 99 the visibile changes are pretty well covered above, so I'll add a couple of the standard manufacturing ones as well to make myself look good.

    Maybe wheel changes
    Maybe a couple different colors
    Airbox
    Coolant bottle
    Maf sensor/TB

Behind the scenes though, there's tuning differences in the PCM. There are BCM and some sutle wiring/circuit differences where they found needs to upgrade/redesign.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Any of those a reason to get a 99 gtx over a 98. Are there any performance advantages or anything.
