Okay, so first off. I'd like to apologize for trolling the forums. I was doing stupid, excuse my language "****" at the time, lying to everyone and got me in HUGE trouble. Enough about my personal life. Okay, so I bought a 1994 Grand Prix SE, As seen in my display picture, I owned the car for a month and a half, I'll continue this in a moment, let's talk about how I obtained the car. August: Uncle loaned me 2000 dollars to get a car. I test drove many different types of cars, trucks, mini-van's, and SUV's. Pretty much anything in my price range. After weeks of searching, I saw this GORGEOUS Grand Prix for 3000 dollars. I talked to the guy about it, believing him at the time of course, He made statements that the car was owned by a 70 year old lady, just one owner, being young and gullible, I believed him. I test drove the Cars with my Parents, the car seemed to run AMAZING, drove AMAZING, and the Interior was AMAZING. Instantly fell in love with the car, (Usually happens to me with any Pontiac). But I failed to take the car to my Mechanic to have him look at it. I told the guy I would give him 2000 dollars cash for it. He instantly said yes. (Looking back, should have set off an alarm, because no normal person drops the price of a car by 1000 dollars). A week later, I noticed a MAJOR oil leak with my car. So, me and my father put a jack under the car and looked. The oil pan was tightened down so much, that the gasket was squeezing out the sides, leaving the under-carriage of my car a DISGUSTING oily mess. So, I would have to put atleast 2 quarts of oil in it a day to make sure it wouldn't go dry. 3 day's after we came to the conclusion that the oil pan gasket was destroyed, I bought a new gasket, and I had scheduled with my Mechanic to have it repaired. The gasket get's repaired. End of August September: The car was back up and running great. I was cruising around town, having a good time with friends (They all loved the spacious interior of the car). After I had dropped them off, Mom called me and asked me to run to the bank for them. I get to the bank all fine and dandy. As I leave to come home, I noticed a nasty knocking sound. I drove the car carefully, to try and make it home. I get 3/4 of the way home, and Knock knock knock, the car stalls. I start it, now it sounds like a GRENADE exploded in the motor. So I push the car to Wal-Mart parking lot. Talk about a work out. Call my brother, tow's the car to my house. Now 2 things crossed my mind. 1. My car is ****ed. 2. Why didn't the service engine light come on. After taking a closer look at the Gauge cluster, I see the service engine light, has been TAPED over. No clue how this was acomplished. October - December: Time for the motor search. After Weeks of searching, I found a Low-Milage 3.1, same year and model as my car. The motor has 30,XXX miles on it. January: Motor Installed, car is running. The old motor, spun a rod bearing, and bent a rod. Would have cost me more to rebuild the motor, then the one I purchased (Only paid 600 dollars for the current motor in the car). As the mechanic was removing the motor and tranmission ( He did them as a unit) He sent the transmission off the be checked over. Now, you see there is a gasket in the transmission, that was missing, and the Transmission was full of Gasoline. There's 1200 dollars gone right there to rebuild the Transmission. February: I've learned to give my car TLC, and it is running quite well. No more shifting problems. No more sluggishness. I just had Flowmaster 70 series installed on it. (I have an exhaust video, that I took yesterday if anyone would like to hear it). I've have been looking into PCM tuning, Don't know if it's possible, and Performance chips. JET Chips has 2, a stage 1 and stage 2 chip. I don't know if anyone on here has used them or not. Also, I am looking for anyone that know's or has a custom Intake design, I will pay money for it. I am looking for Performance parts. I am looking for Rims. (Curse the plastic hub caps) I am looking for gauge clusters. Please, let me know if you have any knowledge of any of these items. Thanks, Matt

You should probably post what you're looking for in the wanted section...might have better luck. Not a lot of us are driving that body style though

    all i have to say.

is welcome to owning a GM.

but with all the work you've put into the powertrain. double check everything else because the car was obviously someones beater.

and as far as performance on the 3.1..
well sadly there really isn't any, but you could probably make a decent cruiser out of it, aka make it look good and sound good, and thats about it.

you should definitely put some pictures of it, maybe do a photoshoot or something

Holy man, that hurt my eyes to read.

    Maybe use paragraphs next time.

But that does suck what happend and good thing its now running good.

As for those few mods you was saying stuff about, chips are joke (fake), make your own intake (its simple). Changing gauge clusters will mess up your mileage, might aswell just stay stock.

Will definitely look for custom intake. are there any noticeable power gains from one?

not anything too noticeable. the only place we can find gauge clusters for our cars is ebay, but they are pretty hard to come across. every two weeks they seem to make dash bezels though...ebay search 1994-1996 grand prix and see what comes up. they may even have a cheap intake kit.
here are the rims that also come with these cars, the ones that i have on mine:
16" Pontiac Grand Prix wheels 94 95 96 Factory WHITE Oem stock Rims 1994-1996 | eBay

chips are a joke. might be able to tune but thats pointless unless you top swap.
top swapping is the way to go if you want to get any noticeable gains.

Reading through your post and thinking of it from a mechanical aspect.

Engine leaking, happens, odd it was dry for a couple weeks and then let go though. Maybe a pcv was blocked and pressure pushed out there.
Engine blowing, it is a 3100. Likely the intake gaskets were not done often enough or replaced with the aluminum version that is now available. Something to consider on your new engine. Intake gaskets are common on the 3100 until you get the aluminum framed ones in there. Honestly though..I doubt the guy knew anything about the motor about to blow. That's not something you can hide.

Transmission being full of fuel. I don't understand how it's possible unless someone poured it in there intentionally. Even then.. the temps our transmissions see, a lot of that fuel should have evaporated and been causing serious issues all through out the trans. I don't understand how a trans can work that way.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Okay, so I made my own intake, and I absolutely love it. I changed it, and filled my car up with gas, 50 dollars worth of 91 octane, and went for a cruise. First thing I noticed is, when under full throttle, the motor has a mean ass growl to it.. Kinda of reminds me of Vtec but less gay. ha-ha. The car seems to run a lot smoother now. I also noticed a HUGE difference in gas mileage, was getting maybe 18 at best in the city, and now it's in the low twenty's. I have also been thinking about rims for the car, I think I found the perfect set. Dip ICE, is there name.. but I don't know if the 20' rim will be to much for my car. I know it will fit, but I don't know about it. I'll try and find a link of the rims, and post them, to get more opinions.
