thinking about buying a block and doing a legit build but I need some ideas... now heres what i want...

    please list

    1. the major mods of the buld

    2. why you feel this route is better

    3. an estimated cost of the build

the key here is I wanna build the strongest/most powerful engine I can FOR A REASONABLE PRICE... being in college Im not rich so obviously a $5000 build is out of my limits...

    thanks for any ideas/help

I'd go with a L67 low compression for easier tuning and one of the strongest rods.

L67 is ALOT cheaper than a L26 or L32, so thats another thing to look at.

GTPWORLD.NET • View topic - Cont... the Carnage of my L26 build that lasted 2 passes

If you think L26's have the strongest rods, check that thread out. I'll probably just get deleted since its for another site though.

honestly the best way to go about this is a stock block that you know is in good running condition.

so long as you keep your tune fairly conservative you are good to go. true oiling issues come along with other issues creating them. keep the motor in good shape gasket wise and dont run excessive boost/timing at the same time and you'll be golden.

I thought that'd happened to me here before, maybe it was just CGP that happened to me.

I vote L67, or L32 if you wanna cough the extra money, + turbo. Because turbos are kool.

Bigger question, do you have a stock tranny atm? My guess would be no.

    Cheap, Fast, Reliable.
You only get to choose 2.

Any build that totals under 5k from start to finish will not be the strongest/ most powerful.

I know a local guy building an 11 second car for $2k, but he doesn't expect it to last much past that 11 second pass.

its not a "fixed budget" per say as I dont necessarily have a goal for a time to be done by.... just the best build for a DD for whenever it gets done...
