Am I the only impressed on how good GPs are in snow or is it just the tires that make the difference. Going 80 on I 29 from summit SD to Wahp Nd in snow and passing in unplowed lanes with no problems. The car felt right at home in the snow.

Tires are the biggest factor. With knowing how to drive and good tires you can go just about anywhere in anything.

I had an 86 Mustang one winter. Put some winter treads on, some weight in the rear, and never had an issue getting where I needed to go. Drove my Stealth every winter from 02-10, even after lowering it on coilovers. I'd be driving it again this winter if I didn't pull it off the road.

^ ^ This. My GP hasn't had any troubles in snow thus far but I also have brand new tires up front. The braking (*cough* ABS) has some to be desired as it comes on at the slightest loss of traction, but I think it's cause I'm running 2 bad tires in the rear. FWD helps a lot in the snow department too. I was used to driving a RWD '91 Sonoma (front wheel ABS only) in the winter and moving to FWD has been a whole new world for me.

Basically yes, these cars aren't bad in the snow and stuffz but be responsible too. Good tires and good car or not you can still end up wrecked.

Try stopping from 80 in your unplowed lanes...make sure to disable your abs first though

I'll see you worn tires and raise you a brand new set of Blizzaks. What snow? Turning, stopping, accelerating, everything is amazing.

Aaron, the guy at Belle tire said the rear tires are the most important when buying new tires becuase of fish tailing. I recommend you get new ones back there..

drive is easy stopping is what cuases the issues in the winter.

when i have my '74 chevy 4x4 and my '90 F150 4x4 i pulled many people out of the ditch in front of my house. i live right by a stop sign and every time it was the people not being able to stop and they where only doing 50mph-45mph
But why make it an SE?

I had pretty bad tires last year (almost bald) and never got stuck. I even tried getting stuck on a snow day and it didn't happen. Drove through probably 5-6 inches of snow (?) with the splitter plowing it lol.

The point is these cars are very good in the snow.
As far as the 80 in an lane that hasn't been plowed (or even if it has; there could still be black ice), that's just stupid.

fwd is awsome in the snow if you can drive

yea some people with awd thinks thats their saving grace in the winter, you still need to brake early like anything else. i hate the jags that dont realize that.

edit: not directed towards nick, kyle, jaren and anyone else with a super cool scoob.... just retards that dont belong on the road

Yeah on the braking department, what can be done to improve that on anything. And I know 80 was a bad idea but I forgot to look at the speedo, and passing going 80 is never a good idea in the unplowed lane. I slowed down for that and only when the road had some use and you could follow some tracks.

4x4 trucks are worse then the AWD vehicles. it;s the trucks that pass me doing 60 then spin out into the ditch
But why make it an SE?

This I know....trust me, I actually about lost it today coming home through a very simple right-to-left jog in the road. Road was empty so I was even lined up in the other lane so I could take it as straight as I possibly could. Took it from 30 and I still felt it fishtail a bit (edit, yes the jog was slightly slushy). Sure was an interesting few seconds lol.
The front was solid the whole time, but dang, the rear kept things interesting.

    i rock all seasons.

theres a ditch by my house that people like to pull over onto for whatever reason and it looks flat in the winter with all the snow but its actually on a 45degree angle, i make a couple bucks helping people out of there haha
