from what I've heard, those aftermarket halo lights have absolutely terrible light output.

That is very true. I own them and they are honestly terrible, to the point where its almost unsafe to drive at night. My fog lights provide way more light then my "projectors" ever would.

Edit: I have a 2000 grand prix. maybe the 04+ projectors have better output.

I'd go with the black housings. I think the chrome looks cheap.

Those projectors did not get very good reviews due to the poor light output. You could always get chrome stock lights to change up the front of the 04+. If you really want projectors, then I recommend you invest your time and money in a set of retrofits.

I got projectors with 6000k and they work fine. it don't look great, but its better than the OEM light..... but one projector is burning the plastic, I've contacted the seller and I still waiting for their answer, they asked me for pictures of the damage and I sent them some pics, I just have to wait for them to tell me they gonna replace it, I hope!

The light output is not very different for me, the brights are actually the same, and the projectors seem to be fine

Black, make sure the Halo's are CCFL, they are very much brighter.

I think it depends on what brand you get. Because I saw a pontiac grand prix 04 (or so, not a 97-03) and they had projectors like this and yes, the light output was terrible!!! I don't see how the guy was driving like that! I got a pair myself for my 97 pontiac and the light IS NOT great, but is not BAD either! Light is better than what I had with my stock lights that is for sure! the CCFL halos are brighter, they are replacing mine because I had a problem and they gonna send me a pair of black ones, I had chrome.
