Ok so I test drove it. Holy crap is it fast. Makes my Lincoln feel like a Camry. I enjoyed it a lot.

Anyway, this GXP had 2 previous owners. It was actually repossessed from the 2nd one.

The calipers were painted. I can see some red patches |: Maybe they were painted so they didn't stand out and lure thieves in? Who knows. They do look like the PBRs though.
The tires are Kumhos. Ride felt good and compliant.
Rear pads and rotors were replaced
The lettering on the engine cover (5.3 yada yada) is chipping away. Is that normal?

Everything else looks and feels good. Dealer is sending me vehicle history some time over the weekend.

Edit: Another question. Does this engine run on regular? I assume it does.

    Ok so here's an update

Read the Car Proof report. States that it was a Fleet/Rental Vehicle in SoCal from 06/05/2007 up until 03/06/2008 when it was imported into Canada after being purchased at auction.

Prior to being imported, its last odometer reading was at 10,202 Miles <--- Accumulated over a 7 month period

While in Canada, it ended up at another auto auction (I believe) on 5/14/2010 where the mileage is listed at 52,324KM

Then on 07/07/2010, the car's mileage is again 'Reported at Auto Auction' with 52,439 KM where it was purchased by what I assume is the current dealer.

Also, the dealer is charging almost $2k under book value.

    -----

So yeah, this car has been around a fair bit in its life. Is this a good buy? The dealer did mention that the car was repossessed from the last owner which may explain it's recent visit to the Auction lot. But has anyone bought a car that traveled this much (or more) with no issues down the line? I may never know until it's too late if this car was broken in properly.

my opinion i think u have to consider it as any used vehicle. buying it from a dealer at least they are honest to you. its all up to you if it checks out good i would go for it, aslong as it dosnt look beaten still sounds okay to me

The car is very clean inside and out. I did think the peeling script from the engine cover was a bit odd for the mileage, though. Nothing major cosmetically but it just made me think if it was indicative of something else.

That's a sweet looking GXP in your sig. Gives me an idea for possible mods, too should I pick this one up

Well maybe not the 2nd Tranny part, lol

i think you'd be happy with it. fwiw, there are bulletins about the DOD lifters and there's one for oil consumption with the 5.3's. the fix for it is something about a deflector in the oil pan. it's been awhile since i've seen one. there might be a special policy on it where a GM dealer would fix it at no cost, or something that would be covered under a warranty. regardless, keep an eye on your oil and use the right weight. a lot of problems with the lifters (and cam/crank correlation codes on the inline engines, but i digress) is cause by people using too heavy of an oil or simply not changing it. for the love of God, don't go by the oil life monitor. it doesn't monitor anything, it's a program in the pcm that monitors your driving conditions and habits and guesses at what your oil looks like.

I typically service any vehicle using the Service Guide in the car's manual for things like Oil, Brakes, tires etc. The rest I do through my own eyes. My mechanic is pretty good, too. I've never understood how people can use the incorrect oil weight. Surely it must be printed SOMEWHERE?!

    Mercedes-Benz.

    Best of luck.

    "MB Approved oil only".

Thats all it says. Doesn't even list a spec.

Most MB owners can't even lift a gas pump nozzle let alone their hood.
