    I guess this is referred to as the clutch bearing. It squealing and putting a crimp on my day.

    So my research has determined that the part number is MT2025, and is usually if not always associated with the brand Santech.

    Various vendors sell it. I'm probably best off picking it up at Autozone. My question is if there is a more reputable maker of bearings that are suitable. Santech smacks of Chinese. Not everything is crap coming out of China, but I'd rather not have to do this job again. And my a/c is possibly not even working, or the blend doors are keeping me from a proper determination. No I don't want to install a delete pulley.

    I've never done something like this before. Replaced similar style of wheel bearings on my 82 Chevy G10 van years ago. The hardest part, I would imagine, is just getting the pulley off.

    I'd just go with that one. I've used Santech stuff before and it seems to fit/work just fine.

    I will not advise one way or the other, just state fact. When I bought just the bearing, 2-3 years ago, at O'Reilly's...

    The experienced and trustworthy counterperson / manager advised rather than replacing just the bearing, that I replace the clutch assembly. I did just the bearing and made it a year then the bearing went bad suddenly and might have started a fire in doing so, right past the warranty date. I don't know that brand name now but if as you say, the goal is a lasting fix... I'd be buying the clutch assembly if it were me. I have been punishing myself with a bypass pulley ever since. Just sayin.
    All Grand Prix, all the time. 69 Model J, 99 GT & GTP coupes. All junk, haha.

    Summer has become so mild I really don't need a/c for the duration it seems. Replacing the clutch may be an issue. But if the bearing lasts me until next summer, assuming something catastrophic doesn't o/w happen, I'll go the extra mile. It's a good car. But compared to my other used and new GMs, this one has required the most maintenance, far and away. One more issue (not a fire!) won't be a big deal. I overpaid for the part, as I bought it locally. But it was still just under 30$. I just need my car running.

    I still haven't replaced my valve cover gaskets. Just got another recall notice about a week ago. That's really the biggest fire danger. But 5 years later, I'm still in good shape.

    Could also use suggestions for a clutch bolt removal tool.

    FYI, it's not the valve cover gaskets that are the main issue for the engine fires. It's the plastic quick connects on the fuel lines at the rail that leak (usually the supply side one that is on the back of the engine) and they just happen to be right above a nice hot manifold. I've replaced that line connection on mine and have had zero issues.

    As far as the valve covers are concerned I just stuck some good fel-pro gaskets and new bolt grommets on both and it has been leak free for years. My front P-Log shows NO signs of any oil leaks and the lip of both covers is bone dry.

    GM has been on me for years since I got the GP from my brother to have them change just the front valve cover and remove the spark plug wire mount to "eliminate" the issue.
