A 40th came into a local u pull place a couple of days ago, and I went out to look at it this morning. The vents look cracked, like something sat on them, but they are all there. The interior is pretty trashed, at least in the front, and the ODO has over 300k on it, so I'm pretty sure nobody wants the cluster either.

I'm going back tomorrow to pull the exhaust tips off. I would have gotten them today, but ran into an issue, hence this post. The nut on one of the U-bolts that holds the tips on snapped off from the rust on it, and I'd imagine the other side is at least as bad. Being a u- pull, they don't allow torches, grinders or sawzalls, so I need to figure out how to get the tips off without mangling them (Just the tip). Any brilliant ideas? Or non Brilliant ones that will still work?

Also, the roof rails are still there, if someone wants them for probably less than what most people ask for them and can tell me how to get them off without damage, let me know. I have no need for them.

They allow hack saws right? little elbow grease and then you can get them off the pipes where you have more tools available.

True enough, I suppose. maybe I'm overthinking it. I was thinking maybe bolt cutters to the U-bolt, too, but they seem to be butted up to the tips all the way around, so IDK if I'd be able to get enough bite with bolt cutters.

+1 on the hacksaw. Take some extra blades with you just in case. Been there, done that.

On the roof rails take some heavy fishing line (or a bicycle brake cable since you don't need to worry about damaging the roof) and get it under the front or rear end of the rails and work it back and forth in a sawing motion while pulling it towards you. Should cut through the tape w/o damaging the rails. Just be careful with so you don't catch the edges of the rails. Don't use a screwdriver or anything to pry them off or it will dent them.

If you can get them off w/o damage and pack em up so they don't get killed in shipping I'd take them if they're reasonable cost-wise. Been looking at a set for $130 shipped right now but if you can come in under that I'd take them. Paint condition is no issue, just as long as there isn't cosmetic damage (which happens when people use screwdrivers to pry them loose).

I got the tips off, using a combination of hack saw, claw hammer, screw driver, and 3 ft pry bar. No damage to the tips that wasn't already there, so next step will be getting them on mine.

As far as the roof rails, it looks like someone stuck a screwdriver or similar under the front and started to pry. I didn't see any gouges, but it was noticeably warped. Your call, though. If you want me to go back and grab them, and you think they'll bend back like they should, I will go back and grab them. Say, 110 shipped, if so?
