The factory original paint on the top part of my front bumper under the headlights has lost its luster. Seems like the only way to get it back is to put a couple coats of wax on it, but that only seems to be a temporary solution. After a couple days its dull again. I havetried using a couple different waxes such as Meguire's cleaner wax, gold class & NXT (all of which I already had). Of course being black its that much more noticeable. Is there a more permanent solution that will last longer besides repainting?

Nope. My front and rear dark blue bumper covers suffered from dead clearcoat too. Did the exact same thing to try and bring it back and finally gave up. I got lucky and scored a clean pair from the JY and just swapped them out. Beyond that, strip and repaint is the only option at this point.

The photo is a bit small but it sounds and looks like clear coat failure. The only true fix is a repaint.

I get matching paint and cleracoat from here --> Touch Up Paint and repair | AutomotiveTouchup
Plug in your color code and they can send you a spray can with perfect match paint.

Scuff with 600 grit, wash with dawn and rinse, dry, mask, wipe with tack cloth, and spray away!

The Guz, had to shrink it down to upload. That pic is 2 days after I waxed it. Probably is clear coat failure with it being plastic & what not.

mguzzo, not sure I'm ok to paint myself lol, but that is good find there. Wish they had the gray on the bumpers too
