I am beyond happy about going catless today. The performance improvement on my stock 08 is great and now I don't have to ever worry about that ****ty CAT converter getting clogged again. Has anyone else out there went catless? if so please share your experinece.

The O2 sensors don't throw a code as a result? did you replace the O2 sensors with some dummy sensors from ZZP or similar?

My thoughts, too, unless he had some kind of wizardry up his sleeve and, if so, what said wizardry that was

I'm catless. I just deleted the rear O2 from the pcm. Reads complete on the deq (smog) computer

Turbo is the way to go.

When the code pops and the car starts doing random cat tests that use up more fuel, he may wish to install a new cat converter.
Can't tune 2008 3.8 computers either.

He might have needed a new cat anyways, if he noticed such a performance difference by gutting it.

Sounds like a job for a high-flow cat. People who express glee over having no cat seem to me like the guys who put the vertical pipes on their diesel trucks to put out extra black smoke.

Yes it sure did throw a code but I am in the process of installing O2 sensor extenders with the hopes of fooling the ECM into thinking it's reading cleaner exhaust.

Car looks great! Can you delete sensors on a 08 model?

Well honestly regardless of how much fuel it consumes from going catless. I won't regret gutting it because that's one less future problem I have to worry about and this isn't my only vehicle that I depend on for transportation. So I'm cool with a little decreased fuel economy.

i'd try the simulator trick, if that dont work i would put a real cat back on it. cant delete codes in a 08. cant tune it.
its not just wasting fuel, its flooding the engine making it run rich and fouling out the plugs.

It's not going to foul the plugs. It will eventually ruin the engine though. I ruined one because I couldn't delete the cat test.

Well it’s been 2 days since I’ve installed the 02 sensor extenders and so far no check engine light and I haven’t noticed a drop in fuel economy. So far so good. Will continue to post status updates.

What do you mean by the PCM performing random CAT tests?

2001 and newer cars perform a cat test to check the condition of the cat.

Ok I will do research on it but so far the check engine light hasn't come back on which means the 02 sensor extenders must be allowing the correct exhaust tolerances to satisfy the PCM
