Hello, I am new to this forum and was hoping to find answers here since my local dealerships seem to be clueless! I just picked up a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix base with cloth seats blahblahblah. I bought a set of leather seats out of a donor car at the junk yard along with the new HVAC panel with the heated seat buttons and went to plug everything in and realized the passenger harness was different. Did some research and found that the seats came out of a 2005 and the difference was the airbag connector for the pressure sensors in the seats, so I took the seats back and they gladly exchanged the seats for a leather set out of a 2007. Plugs fit perfectly, plugged them in bolted them down, plugged in the HVAC module and thought I was good to go, you press the heated seat button and it just blinks as you push it then shuts off, I left the battery disconnected overnight, nothing. Thinking it was the module I switched out the HVAC module for a different one, no luck, same issue. I called the dealership to see if maybe it was something they had to program to the BCM to tell the car, okay you have heated seats now, turn those puppies on. They all tell me no they should be plug and go. Just out of curiosity because It's been driving me crazy I bought a body control module for $10 out of a salvage grand prix with heated seats at the junk yard and plugged it in, the heated seats work! low and high, BUT now the car wont start and the radio is locked and all that good stuff. So, obviously what the dealership is telling me is not in fact true, I do need to somehow reprogram the BCM, I know since dealerships can be clueless sometimes and charge rediculous pricing from experience with my last car a BMW, there was a guy on a forum I met that would send you out a cable, you plug a laptop in and connect to wifi and he could change whatever settings you wanted over the phone. Does anybody on here offer that? Thanks for any tips or input!
