2008 grand prix headlights

Hey guys. I have a 2008 grand prix with roughly 177,000 miles on it. I bought it used 2 years ago. Lately, I am having a problem with my high beams. Every couple of miles, they will do this thing where they seem to go off for a micro second and then come back on. More like a blink if you will. I never had this problem until recently. Also, my regaular passenger headlight wont go on and I have to bang pretty hard to make it come on. Is that a symptom of a bad light or a short? Anyone else have these problems?

id put new bulbs in, start there. hitting the headlight to make it work is a temp fix for a bad bulb.

I always thought that if a bulb was bad it just wouldnt work. Ill try switching it out. Still not sure why my high beams occasionally flicker though.

what did you think your fixing by hitting the light? theres nothing inside it but a bulb.

the flicker, is it over bumps? some headlights are loose and move, might look like a flicker.

In order of how I'd diagnose..... bad bulbs, bad electrical sockets, bad ground(s), bad headlight/mfs switch.

Just switch the bulbs from passenger to driver. if the passenger works ok and the driver starts acting up it's the bulb. If the passenger still acts up it's the wiring.

I knew I wouldnt be fixing anything.Just always thought if a bulb was bad that it just wouldnt work.period. Will try switching them out.
