Just got done at Safelite getting a windshield replaced and noticed my bill was $100 cheaper than my quote. I'm thinking they put in the cheaper windshield even though the quote was for the HUD windshield. The HUD looks normal, but overcast today....so i can't tell how it'll be in bright conditions.

If it's for the 2001 Grand Prix, I can assure you it is not the HUD windshield. There is no more new HUD windshields available nation wide. I just went through this with my 00 GTP and they had to put in the non HUD one. I haven't notice any real difference at this point.

It is for the 2001. Safelite quoted me just over $300 for the HUD glass and didn't say anything about having any issues getting the HUD glass. Waiting to hear back from Safelite. The HUD appears clear...just not as easy to see in brighter light.

It's shady they didn't tell you it wasn't available. When replacing mine I was told by everybody it wasn't available and wouldn't ever be available again. Even GM told me that.

Sounds like typical Safelite. I went through something similar for my 03 Vic last month. I requested the OEM Ford glass which has the logo in it and the extra sunband up top. The rep on the phone literally argued with me stating that the Ford glass they sell is made by Carlite, which is the OEM supplier for Ford but just doesn't have the logo on it or the extra shade. I assured her I knew this and wanted a price on both. They gave me the prices and I ordered the Ford glass. They called back later that day and said they couldn't get it. I politely told them to cancel the order. I went with another local company and they found the glass at a Ford dealer and had it there and ready. And they installed it for less than what Safelite wanted and were also able to get their hands on the OEM reveal moulding so it's as close to factory as I can get.

Yeah, you can't get aftermarket HUD glass. I made a post about it years ago. No one ever made the correct glass beside OEM, and some places still charge a premium for it despite being exact same glass as non HUD.
