I found this module in the GP GXP I just got. It was hanging behind the radio from its 12-pin plug with one of two small, gold high-frequency type screw connections connected. It wasn't mounted correctly and was clanking against a trim panel so I carefully removed it and nothing seems to have been affected. Also my radio reception seems better (it sucks) and this says it's a GSM device, and has an FCC transmission warning label, so it kind of makes sense.

Anyone know what this is? My research says it's a GPS anti-theft device. If so, how do I activate the service? I'll re-install if it's useful.

    Are you financing the car?
I only ask because it seems that it's a locator device given the fact that it was just left hanging.
Are the wires in a factory harness or loose?
If it is not stock equipment, disconnect it.

If it is a tracking device, who did you buy it from and what was their story?
It could be a tracking device their spouse put in the car prior to you getting involved. Maybe their spouse didn't get a chance to remove it or didn't plan on the owner selling the car.

Thanks for the replies, guys. It was hanging from what looked like a custom harness w/ several cut wires (coming *from* the guidepoint). There was also an apparently associated button on the instrument panel which I couldn't figure out. It was rectangular w/ two square buttons, one w/ a phone-looking icon and the other a sort of grid, w/ a flashing (when power off) blue LED between them. That LED no longer flashes after disconnect.
I'll check w/ the guy I got it from. He hadn't had it long and didn't know about a few things so I don't expect an answer.
