My Grand Prix GTP has 177,000 miles on it and is burning oil. When I stop driving there is smoke/steam coming out of the dipstick and oil cover. It only needs a top off of oil every couple weeks so its not too severe, but the smoke scares me. I havent noticed any blue exhaust, so I was wondering if this issue could be as simple as a pcv valve? Please help I love my murdered out grand prix and I don't want to get rid of it due to a blown engine or costly fixes.

    Thanks,
    Sam

I've had the same thing happen, in my case, I was intercooled at the time, and one or both of the pcv passages on the intercooler was plugged with the rtv I used to seal the intercooler to the supercharger and lower intake manifold. I would expect something to have malfunctioned with your pcv system like your pcv valve.

So you think it could be as simple as a 10$ pcv valve that I would just need to replace?

Okay so when I took off my supercharger cover to take a look at the pcv valve, I noticed a cylinder type thing on top of the cap?

the pcv valve sits down inside the supercharger with a spring on top of it with 1 or 2 o rings. I think I used a pair of needle nose pliers to get the valve out.

When I had smoke coming out from my dip stick tube and valve cover, it happened only after my LIM gasket change. I think it was a small amount of coolant burning off that would steam up when the engine got hot. After my next oil change, the issue went away.

Pcv valve if you haven't changed it recently... Some engine cleaner and identify if there's leaks, valve cover gasket is quite common. Then go from there... Every couple of weeks means how much driving time/mileage?
