I have a 06 base model, that randomly dies while driving. I can go a few months and its fine, then starts back up. It can die at highway speeds or at 20mph. It has been a great car with almost 300k on it and my 16 year old will be driving it but want this fixed first. I was told the fuel filter is good for the life of the fuel pump, but my gut says filter/pump. It's not the neutral switch, Ive changed the plugs, wires, battery and cables. I'm out of ideas....any help would be appreciated!!

If the crank sensor is the factory one, I'd replace it.

It's a known issue that the crank sensor can fail and cause the car to die at complete random. A new factory delco sensor is the only one I'd use. The sensor is somewhat cheap, it's just getting to it is a little more lengthy process.

Yup, I had the random dying and multiple misfire code for a while. Turned out to be the crank sensor. With the correct tool, it was easy to change.

Have you hooked up a scanner to see if there are any pending codes?
