Currently have a 2004 base Grand Prix. Best car I have ever owned. I purchased pre-owned in 2007. Had about 75k on it when purchased. Have about 118k now. Still drives good but has gotten beaten up over the years. I'm thinking about replacing.

This car has been one of the most dependable cars I've ever owned. Other than basic maintenance I've had to very little in repairs.

Are there any pre-owned cars that you've replaced your Pontiac Grand Prix with and been just as satisfied with the reliability? I've actually kicked around the idea of trying to find a low mileage 2007 or 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix with perhaps some upgrades from what my current base model has. Heated leather seats. Maybe a sunroof?

So what would you recommend a Pontiac Grand Prix owner look at for their next ride that would be comparable in reliability and "funness" of driving. Price would be anywhere from $8500 - $15k.

Why the 2012 or 2013 Impala?

Consumer Reports gave the 2014 Impala a very nice review. Of course this was when the car was new and reliability was unknown at time. This review intrigues me. i may hold on to my Grand Prix for a while longer and look at some of the Impalas. Very impressed with the Consumer Report initial review.

The new 2014 impalas are nice. I just thought they would be over $15k.

The 12 and 13 have the new powertrain, but are still on the familiar w body platform. Same goes for the 2014 to 2016 impala limited, but those will all have a fleet use history.

I replaced mine with a 2011 Lancer GTS. I looked at some G37s, Maximas, Altima, etc. Ended up with the Lancer because I had to buy something quick.

LOL. That's same color as my '04. It's called "Sedona Beige Metallic". It's actually not a bad color. It really grew on me.

What the heck happened to that hood!?

Heck yours with 118K is almost new. You can get over 300K out of them.

My thoughts exactly. If you don't have major rust, your car is low cost to fix and 118K on a 3800 is nothing.

My other thought is.. I replaced my rusted up Regal with 260K on the clock with a 95K mile 2010 Audi A6. I'm at 131K now and it's been very reliable with a minimal amount of maintenance.

If one with 118k is almost new then what is mine with only 45k on it?

It's not a pile. It does have some dings and dents in the front driver side panel and driver side door. Long story short, wife was driving my car. I had put parking brake on. She said she couldn't get it off. She was out of car. I leaned into car, popped it off with my car but she had left it in reverse. My driveway is on a slight hill. So my car starts going backwards down the driveway, almost knocks me over. I managed to jump in and stop it before it went into across street into neighbors drive way can cars but NOT before the driver door hit wall and bent all way back. Luckily body shop was able to fix door but those two areas are a little banged up. Also have some general dents, dings and scraps one would expect in a 13 year old daily driver car.

There a a very nice 2008 GXP for sale at a dealer ship near me with only 68k on it. But will all I've read about the GXPs blowing through transmissions and only being able to use premium gas in them the less I think I want one. It is also way overpriced at almost $11k. I think I need to look for a later model (07-08) non-super charged GP with leather interior and perhaps a sunroof with low miles (75kish). THAT sounds like it would be a very nice, very reliable daily driver.

Send $3,000-5,000 and get it all cleaned up, new paint, etc. 118k is still a baby!
