I'm wanting to put in a new head unit it my 2003 grand prix SE. Nothing too fancy, but I have a few questions...I have never had a double din, and it looks like a double din would be a bit too big. Is a double din too big? I'm sure I can fit a single din with a little cubby underneath in the installation kit. My brother in law put a double din in his 07 grand prix. Looks like it doesn't quite fit. Second question...what special adapters are required? I'm guessing I have to bypass the oem anti theft? Third question...what are the advantages of a double din vs single din?

It's not a double din, but double dins have been made to fit with a little body and fender work. Use the search function here... Only adapters needed are if you want to maintain any steering wheel control and if heads up display, you'll lose some function/display. As for benefit? Bigger screen... Video play, rear view camera on screen... Is about it. But for those, you could also get a pop out screen single din unit. It is all up to you.

I don't have any of the fancy steering wheel controls or the HUD. I'll probably just stick with single din. I've wired stereos myself, and I've had best buy do them. But that was on an old Hyundai accent and a 97 camry. How is it installing a new deck in a grand prix?

Double din will fit, but IMO, they don't look good. Yet to see a proper trim plate for it. I want a double din myself, but don't want to stare at a$$ all the time. LOL

Yeah im perfectly happy with installing a single. My brother in laws looks like crap...sticks out of the dash a bit, no trim plate. I just miss having USB, bluetooth, and an aux input. I'd love to buy the same head unit I had in my camry, but they don't make them anymore.

I have a single DIN, and I don't like it. It's one that flips up with the touchscreen...

Blocks my center vent and looks dumb.

I'm going to a double DIN, but I think I'm going to sand and refinish the adapter bracket thingy along with the rest of my center console, either satin black or vinyl wrap.

    Just my $.02
