Just sitting without being run for 2 days, my temp gauge will read a little over 160. Turn the key on and start it, it will act normal. What would cause the gauge to read high, even when the car hasn't been run in 2 days?

The temp gauge is'nt very accurate, just know that 160 really means like 100-120 depending on vehicle. So if the ambient temps are already really hot, the temp gauge will read at 160 or even just a hair above. Don't forget too that if you park outside and the sun bakes the hood it will raise the temp under the hood.

The first big line past 160 is around 190-195 and that's normally where most cars run.
