I was out of town for 4 days and my wife was driving my DD which is a 2000 GT. She reported that it started running rough at idle. Then the next day it ran rough and CEL/SES light came on. When I got back in town I plugged in the code checker and had 3. Looked them up on this site were several threads all mentioning vac leak as a probable cause.
Opened up the hood.
Stared at the motor for 15 seconds.
Noticed that the twin vac line fitting to the left of the TPS was off. Put it back on. Cleared codes. Drove car - all is well. Began to wonder how this could have happened.
Is there any way that the motor could backfire or similar and blow that rubber fitting off? I noticed that it doesn't have a very firm grip. 'Cause there's no way my wife was under the hood while I was gone and I doubt she's having an affair with a car guy.
