So on my may home from school, when accelerating, my car would suddenly lose power and then gain it back. Happened for like half a second. It did this like 2 or 3 times in the mile long journey home. And then when I pulled in the garage, the idle was bouncing all around. It would fall all the way down to like 500rpm, then go back up. It would not sit steady. But then when I started the car up 20 minutes later to leave, it did not act up. This is the first time it's done this since fall. Only happens when warm out I guess.

Things I've done that could help:
    -cleaned the TB
    -cleaned the MAF
    -new fuel filter
    -new upstream O2 sensor

I will add more stuff if I remember other things. Was told it could be a vacuum leak. I'll spray the intake with carb cleaner tomorrow. Anything else I should try when I'm out there?

So I just sprayed carb cleaner along the edge of the UIM and where the throttle body bolts to it. Nothing, no change in idle whatsoever. I did my best to spray along the edge, but a lot of stuff was in the way. Still, something should've happened, but nothing did. Tomorrow I'm gonna see if my teacher will let me hook up the scan tool and look at my LTFT's. I'm hoping they aren't north of 16.

I'm having the same problem with my car. I'll try the things you did, if you find the problem please keep me posted.

I just overcame such an issue, tried just about everything I could think of along with what the mechanic could think of.

Have you pulled your PCV valve out to check that it's functional?

My issue was that I was missing an o-ring on the bottom of the PCV valve. Double check that there are 2 o-rings. Red one on top, black one on the bottom

I was not aware that there should be red one as well. I know I have the black on the PCV valve itself, and then a new gasket on the MAP sensor, but didn't know there was a second one.

Well the issue came back today, and worse than it has ever been. I figured out that it only occurs shortly after you give the car some gas. Even if I was cruising down the road at 30mph, and gave it slight gas to start going again (not enough to downshift or anything), it would still cut out for a moment and lose power. I think it's tranny related, but I'm not 100% sure.

Have you pulled any codes yet? If so let me know, I will be at my friends Trans shop in a few hours, I will see what he says.

No CEL, but haven't got around to look for any hidden ones (I don't own a scanner).

smack the catalytic converter housing with the palm of your hand if you hear a rattling sound your cat is broken up inside and intermittently clogging the exhaust path

I will do that as soon as the car cools down a bit, I just drove it.

I hit the cat today and no noise.

This idea might be far from what might happen, but is it possible that I get so much knock, there's a noticeable difference in power where it cuts the timing back so much? I've checked all the vacuum lines and nothing stands out.

No sir. I will need to arrange to plug one in and check fuel trims and such.

Yeah like 2 people. Otterbox doesn't even make a case for my phone, nor does life proof.

So the problem persists. One thought I had was the crank sensor. Maybe it glitches out and doesn't read? Just a thought.
