So I picked up a 2000 Daytona 500 back in October. The guy that owned the car before me said he couldn't find the documentation for it. The dealership I'm sitting in right now (darn valve covers) says they don't have any information on it, due to the car being 16 years old now. Does anyone have an idea as to where I can find the documentation on this car? Like what number of the 2000 of these produced it is?

1,500 or so were produced. So they aren't uncommon and the only thing that really set the Dayton 500's apart was the Motorsport colored checkered flags on the sides and the 2 tone leather interior. If you want to know more snoop around on Google for VIN checking websites.

I just ended up with one also. Its a little rough 2000 GTP . How do you know if they are official? Or is there anything special about them. I know wing, seats are different. Is there any value to them? It runs fine(owner told me motor was smoked LOL) drives ...front end loose, wheel bearing screaming but no idiot lights on. I bought it as a parts donor car for my 01 gt non sc.. IDK just wondered.. Thanks in advance!!!

So like a day after this was posted, by best friend backed into my car and cost $3k worth of damage. The insurance company was going to total it, saying it was only worth $2300. That was just a regular GTP. They then decided to do more research. Apparently my car with 145k miles on it is worth $4700. The more you know~

Technically they are right, it really is just a regular GTP with some stickers and a badge.

Age, condition and value of the vehicle in the market are all factors in how much it's worth. With 3k worth a damage it's still almost a loss in my eyes. You couldn't even sell it for how much they say it's worth, nobody would even pay that lol. Insurance companies are pretty dumb how they value stuff.

There are extremly stupid people in this country you have to remember. The stealership I traded my old 2001 GTP to sold it for almost 4k, the car had 181k miles on it, the bottom of the car was rusted beyond all repair, it needed the entire suspension replaced, the front bumper was an unpainted eBay bumper, the cel was on and it ran like complete ****.
