The driver door lock on my 2006 just fell inside the door when I tried to manually unlock the door. My key fob will not open the doors either. Any suggestions on how to get into my car besides busting out a window?

Do you have a pickup magnet that will fit through the hole? You might be able to grab it. If you can get it back up to the hole, there may be hope but even if you get it back into the handle, getting the key into it may be adventure part 2. Theres no trunk keyhole on an 06?

no pass door lock on that year?

how does the lock push in? there would have to be a ton of rust for that to happen, being the lock installs from the outside and is clipped on the inside.

how the lock works is theres a lever on the end that pushes or pulls a rod at the lock. with any luck if theres no other door or trunk to get in by, try fishing through the key lock hole with a coat hanger with a hook bent on the end. pull it back up and then with needle nose pliers grab the rod and pull it left and or right till you feel the lock click.

I'm thinking this is the lock cylinder in plastic handle variety. Held in by a spring loaded tab or wire clip.

If you can bend a clothes hanger and go in through the hole, you might be able to pull up on the lock or the rod its attached to. Worth a shot.

its plastic with a metal retainer around it. When my car was broken into both times this had broken. As to why you cant unlock with the fob is a hole other thing. hit it twice it should unlock all doors.

ahh, door handle lock, i can see that pushing through. worst comes to worst you call a lock smith type guy, they can break in to any car with no damage. they got a awesome set of break in tools. from little air bags to open a crack in the door top to pre bent rods just for this or that make of car.

i locked my keys in my 97 gmc, guy opened up the bottom of the door at the window bottom with a wedge and air bag, then fished this rod in and back out the inside of the window and then it just hit the lock leaver, like magic.

Long handled screw driver did the trick. Inserted through the empty key area and . Pushed up hard....battery is totally dead so now I understand why the fob did not work.
thanks for all of your input!
