2007 pontiac grand prix gxp with 5.3 LLeft front bearing is going bad. Any tips on doing the labor, like how labor intensive is it? Also what's a good brand for a good price? Car is bone stock

Timken is the brand most go with. It's not a hard job, but you'll need a big ass socket (33mm, I think, you'll have to check) and an impact to get the axle nut off

04 Comp G - a few mods, lots of OEM+ goodness, shiny stuff

Check the "how to ". Section. Great write up there on how to replace. Pretty easy.

I followed a youtube video by Rich Pin on how to change a wheel bearing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-TsTn-3ktk

It was easy to follow and the job is not hard if you have air tools. You will need an air impact and an air hammer. Good excuse to buy tools and I use both all the time. Yes you'll need the bigass 36mm socket, which can be expensive. You can order it on Amazon or they have them in stock at NAPA.

Just a big hammer will get most bearings off, just gotta know where to smack them to get them free if they are stuck.

I prefer the SKF brand over most, very good quality from napa.

I didn't follow any write-ups or how to's. I looked at it and figured it out. I used Moog bearings because it has a 3 year warranty and I could get them at my local Advance Auto for $100 after doing a discount code online and pick up in store.

Advance Auto has a loan-a-tool axle socket kit. You can get the nut off without an impact, I use a 3' crowbar between the lugs and the ground to keep the wheel from turning and a long 1/2" drive breaker bar or ratchet with pipe extension. If you take it off with a breaker bar and get a feel for the tightness, you should be able to re-tighten it close to the same tightness without a torque wrench. Overtightening the axle nut will bring the new hub bearing to an early death. Never re-install the axle nut with an impact. You are also not supposed to re-use the axle nut, but most folks do.

It's a straightforward job, caliper and rotor come off, remove axle nut, disconnect ABS wiring, remove 3 bolts that hold the hub bearing to the steering knuckle and it comes out.

Delco has a 5 year warranty on their hubs. Been running one for a year, so can't say if they are any better than the SKF's I've used that fail almost annualy. LOL

Here is my write-up (should be the same as the 04+): http://chrisb.users.superford.org/Gr...l_Bearing.html

Delco is a one year warranty.

    Axle nut should be 33mm.

Well damn Amazon, I would have bought Delco if they are all 5 year. How much were those?

$124 with my "I used to work for you and still want my staff discount". Looks like it would normally be around $160.

I just googled the part #. The second one is all good. Dunno what else to tell you. Delco is North America wide.

Yea, not sure . The second is clearly worded an GM, but states Aftermarket part in the description so it isnt Delco. The third link is Canadian, and is correct. I guess we are going to all have you buy our hubs from now on

Delco is GM's "aftermarket" parts line. GM uses different part #'s, so that 2nd one is a Delco. Maybe I should start stock-piling these things. LOL

Not sure how much that is you spent Canadian, probably more than I would want anyway. You Canadian guys have your numbers all screwed up, even your football field is 10 yards too long lol.
