a while back i installed leather seats into my 2007 base grand prix. everything out of grand prix everything factory gm. all the plug ins under the seat plugged into factory wiring nothing left unplugged! i also bought the heater panel with the seat heat buttons. when i push the button the light comes on for a second and then goes out. passenger side same thing! where do i start? does the bcm need to be programmed? need more parts? the fuse is in there so cant be that!

I do believe you need to have the BCM reprogrammed at a dealership. I'd imagine it would cost around $50 depending on the labor rate.

Some dealership told me that the bcm cannot be reprogrammed! Whether this is true or not I do not know! Every dealer has told me something different. I even asked them if they could just call gm tech and they could not call them to ask. That's sounds like bull!/!#

GM uses what they call RPO codes, stands for Regular Production Option. If you look in either the glovebox or on the inside of the trunk lid you will see a sticker with a series of 3 character alphanumeric codes. These identify the options that the car was built with, and also get programmed into the BCM to enable switches and functions.

Many times when the dealer says they cant do it they just dont want to mess with it. Some of the guys that do custom tunes do BCMs as well.

You mihht also check the fuse listing in the owners manual, you say the fuse is there but you may be missing a relay. Most of these high current accessories use a relay activated by the switch to power the accessory. If your car wasnt built with heated seats it may not have the relay installed on the fuse block.

Going to dealer on Tuesday will post results hopefully good! They are also checking on why the hvac system does not come on when I use the remote start. It does not come on even if the engine is warm and I do not have automatic climate control just regular fan manual heat adjust

Am I missing something, or is there a reason you don't just run the switch to your own relay to power the seat heater? You don't have to use the factory wiring.
