it's funny, I get a whiff of burnt oil every time it's been sitting and idling for a while AFTER the recall...

Never had that before. I can't find any leaks, but I can smell it.

1bookslore - terrible - sorry for the your GP loss...

Alenw62 - very fustrating - I think they should cover the strut buckets rusting out then.. As original owner my 280K 98 GT runs perfect - I even got my neck back after GM being stupid on this recall and saying they didnt have to give it back - but the strut buckets are gone, obvious design flaw on body..

Anyone want to buy a 98 GT Sedan? Rebuilt tranny by triple edge performance, UIM/LIM, front suspension complete rebuilt (new quick struts, control arms, CV axles, tie rods, stab links, etc.), 5 new tires, great car except for the rear strut buckets. I bounce all over and have to control by brakes/throttle. It sits in the garage with my 2 other GM's, 2017 Adapative Cruise Control Volt, and a Suburban that hauls the 17 Volt and 98 GT when necessary

The surprise I got yesterday was State Farm dropping Comp and Collision on the 98 GT - only pure liability.. Didn't know State Farm would do this, after a certain age they forget insuring the car itself and only do pure liability? Thanks State Farm - never been in an accident - paid over 13K in insurance on this car alone - and then they leave me high and dry by not covering my car now but having me cover all of the public... WOW.. Nice!

Therein lies the problem it is a frankenswap 3800S/C in an SE body. I tried to convince to get the VIN out of the PCM but I have not been successful yet. I may just go to the junkyard and run the VIN numbers until I find one that has had the recall done. What are the parts cost from the dealer does anyone know?

Have you contacted them in regards to this? This is the first I've ever heard of State Farm not providing full coverage on an older car. I have a 1970 Monte Carlo that's been insured with them since the 80's with full coverage, 00 GTP Coupe, and 00 Convertible Corvette, all full coverage.

They didn't say anything about this when I took it to the dealer in Nov.2015 but they did a steering rack recall. I just now replaced the rear VC gasket because it was causing oil smoke. The gasket was completely flattened out on the top side and allowing oil to flow freely out.
