Noobie w/ a question.... I recently acquired an 89 Grand Prix w/ just over 18K miles. Pretty basic model that was really driven by a little old lady to church, doctor's appointments and the grocery store. It has been always garage kept and probably never seen the snow and salt which is common here. For the past 7 years or so it hasn't been licensed but has been started and exercised by driving up and down the street. It is all original. Not knowing a lot about this car's value is it something that might as well be used as a daily driver or is there any thought that it should be kept for Sunday afternoon summer drives? Not sure which fork in the road to take with it. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Honestly it's not going to worth much at all right now to almost everyone.

I'm sure there are collectors that may want something that is in like new condition and of that era but I don't think even them would pay a decent price for it.

If it was me, I'd keep it as a non winter daily or weekend car for the nice days. You really don't see cars like that in this condition still driving around. It may not be the best/top model of the year but that wouldnt too much matter to me, it's just cool because it's old and still a nice car.

The question here is how much you paid to purchase the car. Not many car appraisal websites go back to the 80's. You noted that this is a LE or SE model, with 18,000 miles, and is in excellent condition. That will help increase the value some, but not much. These are valued from $2500 to $3000 at the very most.
Like 5fingerdeathpunch stated, the car will be hard to sell unless there is a collector that would be interested. There are collectors out there who look for extremely low miles on car in excellent condition, but as a rule, they don't want to pay top dollar for anything.
Again, if you did not pay much to acquire the car, you may be better off driving it yourself as a daily driver in nice weather. And perhaps consider detailing the car and taking it to various Pontiac and GM car shows in your area to enjoy the fact that it is a early model, front drive GP. Many people owned these cars back in the day, and they would enjoy seeing one with low miles and in great shape.
The first GP I drove was an '89 SE 2-door, with the 3.1L engine. Not a bad car for its day. And I don't see many "pre-gens" on the road anymore.

The car is on the brink of antique status. Parts are still common, and stocked at parts stores. Its a good looking body. Value is better than the 97-03s by about half. 3.1 is a relatively trusty, gutsy engine. A discussion of rates and intended usage with your insurance man may help you decide. I would drive it until I got tired of it then sell it while miles are still uncommonly low if I wanted something different. If I liked driving it, I'd just keep on doing it and maintain it well. Before making a decision, it is always wise to fully play out the wreck scenario with your insurer, where some goof wipes it out as soon as you hit the road in it. FWIW, I might giggle if I saw an 89 GP at a car show. Just sayin'
All Grand Prix, all the time. 69 Model J, 99 GT & GTP coupes. All junk, haha.

Thanks for the info and thoughts. As for the amount paid question, it was priceless. It was given to me by a family member who bought it new. I have known this car since it was purchased so there aren't any unknowns. Next stop will be the insurance guy. Thanks again.

At the end of the day, it is just a GP. Worth a few grand at best, unless you find the right buyer that has some weird GP fettish.
