My son's license plate was stolen (screws too of course). I need to know the size screw or bolt used. I want to get some security bolts, at least something other than philips or straight, but I need to know the size. The complcating factor is that the car is 100 miles away. I have the new plate, but would like the correct screw/bolt before going down to put it on.

The only security screws they had at Autozone are the kind with the square plastic insert. I don't think this car uses those. All I see is a hole, so I assume there is a threaded retainer attached beneath the bumper cover.

PM BadAssGTPGIRL because she just bought a kit from Advance and she'll tell you which kit to get. The kit comes with tamper-proof torx screws to reduce the chance of theft.

UPDATE - I bought these at Advanced Auto based on BadAssGTPGIRL's recommendation: Cruiser Accessories Part Number 81200. These are security screws that come with an allen-style wrench for installing/removing them. These fit the 2003 Grand Prix just fine. They have little plastic retainers for square holes, but those are not needed on the Grand Prix. I only needed two of the four screws; the other two I used on my Ford Ranger. These are supposed to fit most American make cars.

There is another style, part number 81300, that has more of a machine bolt type thread vs. the sheet metal screw type thread on the 81200. The 81300 is for foreign makes, and they fit my Toyota Sienna.
