Hey everyone, sorry if I am posting in the wrong section but I looked in the how to tech section and couldn't find the answer to my question, and yes I tried a search as well

I picked up an spo spoiler tonight from a guy that lives nearby me as well as spo grilles, the nickel plated ones, for my 08 grand prix. I am curious what all is involved in getting the old spoiler off and the new one on? it looks like it's 3 per side for bolts, and I was advised when drilling out the old screws in the 3rd light to use water to help prevent the plastic from melting, as apparently the odds are very good that the bolts will be rusted in. Is it as easy as I am hoping with removing the spoiler? I haven't opened the trunk yet to see as I got home late, but are the nuts easily accessible, or am I going to have to remove anything in the trunk to get to them?

My apologies if the questions are dumb, as I should have looked prior to posting but as you can probably guess I am like a kid in a candy store waiting to get the new spoiler on lol

    Thanks for any input

I'm sorta curious about this too, I bought an SPO/GXP spoiler and it just got done being painted with my parents car. As soon as it gets back I was going to put it on my parents' car temporarily. I assumed there was just some bolts and stuff to take off and it would be an easy swap. :P Never even crossed my mind about the taillight on the old spoiler being rusted in...., you might have saved me some headache!

Found this: http://www.grandprixforums.net/threa...ove-04-spoiler six bolts and a gasket.

Thanks for that link, it looks fairly easy to do the swap. Ya the guy showed me one of his spare 3rd break lights that he learned the trick on so that I didn't go through the same aggravation as he did

NP. Ah, nice. I'll be extra careful now when I swap the break light over!

I soaked my brake light with penetration oil for a couple min before attempting. I almost stripped it without.

9 out of 10 times the screws will be seized and snap. The body shop took care of the for free.
