So, picked my car up and after having a $600 bill to fix my climate control issues (hvac door actuator and mode module had to be replaced) I didn't really feel like spending any more money to have the shop fix the rest of my issues. So, here's one of them:

My mufflers are both rusted out, shot, and leaking into the car - also, the previous owner got rid of the cat. I have a full exhaust from my parts car, according to the guy I bought the car from its a high-flow cat-back exhaust, and it has ricery mufflers way out the back sorta like http://www.rx8club.com/attachments/n...ffler-pic.jpeg. Should I try to put that exhaust on, should I buy https://brainerd.craigslist.org/pts/5240547924.html and put that on, or should I hack off the old mufflers and just replace the mufflers. I wouldn't mind if it had some noise to the set-up, but the cheaper the better. Just curious what you guys think would be a good route to take and how much welding needs to be done. We have a wire feed welder, BTW.

    Thanks in advance.

I'd stick with as much of the stock exhaust that you can. If you can get some new cheap mufflers for less than the $75 it would take to buy the takeoff catback in the second link then go for it. With these cars you don't want "noise" from the exhaust because most of them will drone and sound like crap. Not many ways around that.

Maybe hit up a JY and look for a catback or at least a set of stock mufflers and cut off the ricer ones and weld in the stockers.

Forgive me if I'm asking something stupid, I don't really know exhausts. But, could I buy http://fargo.craigslist.org/pts/5229573847.html - put that where the cat was, and cut out the old mufflers and put some piping in place of it?

So, potentially I can use a hi-flow cat from my parts car, that glass pack (use http://www.ebay.com/itm/76MM-3-ID-To...VWCOrq&vxp=mtr ?), cut out the old mufflers and call it a day?

mufflers keep outside of the car quiet, glasspack help a littlebit for the car being quiet but they are more for keeping the inside of the car quiet.
does your extra exhaust have the stock resonator? if so id keep that and replace the mufflers.

Ah, okay. I'm not sure... That's the thing up toward the front of the exhaust, right? That glass pack is only 18", that's too short, isn't it - I heard it needs to be decently long, or not?

Also, what exactly does it take to remove the exhaust, I've seen tidbits around with Search, but not like a list of what to do - tried YT too and they weren't very informative.

2 bolts and discount some exhaust hangers.

The general consensus is to run the longest glasspack/resonator that you can.
