ok folks 2004 GP GT that has the tilt lever removed from the column. The column is to low for my wife so i gotta fix it.I purchased a replacement
handle but when i look thru the plastic housing,it has no home. There is not even a place for a screw driver to go to release it. Does anyone of you
Fine Gentleman/ Master Mechanics have a diagram or ideas? Do i need to pull the steering wheel to remove the covers since it doesnt move???
    HELP!!!!

mine just pulls out, and pushes back in. its a regal but some how i bet they are all the same. you need to remove the lever to remove the lower plastic on the column.

98 Buick Regal GS, F body brakes, Caddy STS wheels, tinted tails L36 bottom end, lightly ported heads, 1.95 roller rockers, headers, gen 5 N* 3.0 pulley, FSIC, 42 lb injectors, a BrandonHall rebuilt trans, DHP tuned and AEM water/Meth injection https://goo.gl/gpV5kW

ok here is what i found after prying the bottom cover off.....the mechanism that the handle was attached to was broken off and wedged into the arm so the teeth
cannot raise up. looks like i will need to do some major column repair.

might be easier to just pull another column from a junk yard. they really dont take much to remove.

ok so here is the scoop,to get the plastic tilt lever (that the handle attaches to) out ,i had to modify its pivot point. Normally you must disassemble the column at the pivot, but i wasn't
about to do that (no specialty tool). So i removed the pivot that holds the upper teeth arm for the tilt, the tilt spring and the spring for the arm.It honesty didnt take that long, maybe 45
    minutes.Sorry no pics.

Uh do whut? That one would need visuals. Is it something we can call upgrade? GPF is particular about whats an upgrade, a mod, or a repair lol.
All Grand Prix, all the time. 69 Model J, 99 GT & GTP coupes. All junk, haha.

ya i would right it off as a repair, the nut PO broke the entire plastic tilt mechanism off. Definatley not an upgrade or a mod, just a short cut so i didnt have to disassemble the whole
column and now the tilt works and the wife is happy.
