Also will this be something that you would submit like 3 or 4 pics of the car or just one shot?

I share this opinion. I like the idea, and if people get butthurt, it is a well needed lesson in humility for them. Not everyone can win all the time.

in order to be entered it has to be a wbody/3800 powered.

and realistically...if you're going for ROTM you need a FULL list of mods (exterior, interior, motor, trans, suspension) and a few different pictures to show things off.

this isn't a one picture contest with no info like the calendar would be.

It will be a popularity contest, based solely on the number of gpfers consider you their friend, until all the popular kids win, then randoms with nicer cars will have a chance.

I've been on/am on a few forums that do a COTM/ROTM. There are times where it seems it is more of a "popularity contest" but for the most part, the nicest car usually wins. On the 3/S forum I am most active on now we actually have categories for each month. Example 500+ hp only (had to be proven with a dyno sheet), Stealth only, 3000GT only, any 3/S/GTO (GTO is what the 3000GT is called in Japan and some other markets), N/A only, TT only, etc.

The categories work out well because it evens out the competition (for the most part) from month to month. If you wanted to do something like that you could break it into categories like all w body, 5th gen, 6th gen, 7th gen, NA, SCed, etc.

That's what I'm not really understanding here, why do some folks think this will just lead to a bunch of butthurt drama? We all appreciate a well thought out car, and anytime a new member joins up with a good looking/well built car, that person usually gets a lot of attention in his or her thread. The rules being discussed would help to keep the "popular" members that Brian is talking about from winning every month. This is also why I wanted to see how much forum participation we would get, the more participation we get, the more of a variance of nominations and votes we'll get. It shouldn't take an overabundance of maturity from forum members to do this without getting bent out of shape. So far these are the rules in discussion...

No one car can win twice within a 6 month window.
Members can either nominate their own car OR someone else's.
    Limited to wbody cars only.
Min of 3 pictures included with nomination, build information if available.
First three weeks of the month are for nominations, the last week is for voting. There will be separate sticky thread dedicated to the monthly winners.

These are not set in stone, and other ideas are currently being discussed. If any of you guys have some ideas that haven't already been discussed feel free to share them.

In truth, the choice is up to you guys. ROTM is a pointless forum activity without active members who want it.

Someone can just make a thread and anyone can submit entries. Doesn't really matter to anyone unless monkey or bio decides to lock it.
