Thread: 98 GTP for sale

Up for sale is a '98 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. Silvermist with black leather interior. Power moonroof, heads up display, heated driver's seat and Alpine CD player. I purchased this a little while back and now I'm getting a job about 80 miles each away so I'm looking to get something more economical. This car is modded from the previous owner, I've done little maintenance items but almost everything in and on the car is from the previous owner.


The car itself has around 155K miles on it but the engine has around 40K on it while the transmission has less than 3K on it. The previous owner owned his own shop in upstate Pennsylvania. The car has a cold air intake, a 3.25'' pulley on the supercharger, Pacesetter headers and a catback exhaust(I don't what kind) along with a DHP tuned PCM(computer) The brakes are good, has Eibach 1'' lowering springs with KYB shocks/struts along with a strut tower brace. Autometer boost gauge, wideband and oil pressure gauges in center heater vents(why he did that is beyond me). I was going to change them to the A-pillar but now that I'm going to be working so far away I won't have the time). It also has clear/altezza tail lights.


Newer tires up front, rears are getting a bit low. The car will need an EGR valve assembly as the previous owner blocked it off along with the washer bottle hoses run to the nozzles. The blower motor makes some noise at times. No A/C compressor either, the previous owner removed it as it locked up so it has the delete kit on it.


It's a decent car that needs some work, pretty fast for what it is. It is however a 16yr old car with 155k miles, it's not perfect. Now that I'm going to be working so far away I need a Civic or Cobalt or something along those lines to get me to and from work without costing a bundle.

im not interested in buying but was wondering your signature says slightly ported heads, is this how you get by without rockers?

Not sure, the previous owner did that(he owned his own shop)...I haven't modded the car at all. I haven't gone through all of the paperwork that came with the car, it might have rockers on it. I have the torque app and there's no knock at WOT(though I've only done that blast twice).

I hear ya, sorry for getting snippy...I HATE selling cars and even more so online.

I know the boost is backed off to 7#'s...the previous owner modified the wastegate(I thought it was stupid but he says he does it on every L32 he owns/owned).

hold on here wastegate on a supercharger? btw you can tell if you have rockers very easy just open the oil cap and look in the hole you should be able to see one of the rockers, if the rocker is anodized or aluminum finish its is aftermarket if it looks like this its stock

I'm having a brain fart of the name of the part that controls the boost, he made it adjustable(so f'in stupid), has it limited to 7#'s of boost(if I was keeping the car I would get rid of the stupidity lol)

So the car has a low idle misfire after warming up...it happened after I washed the car a few weeks ago(didn't hose down the engine bay). Happened right after that. Idles fine for 10-15 seconds until it warms up..yet over 1500 it's fine...weird. I haven't had time to look at it nor do I care to...make an offer and come get it.

Need it gone....have my eyes on something. Trying to get the misfire looked at but my friend's shop is super busy

At this point I'm just junking it, not worth the hassle of getting it looked at(though it's probably something stupid), I work too many hours and now drive much nicer things to worry about this POS. Unless I get a grand for it in the next 2 weeks it's going to the junkyard . It'd make a great parts car or something to drive if someone fixes the idle misfire...but sadly I haven't a care in the world about the car. Someone buy it and part it out or find it in a local yard

One thousand doll hairs you say? Did you happen to look through any more of the paperwork too see what all had been done to the car? Is this a coupe or a sedan?

Do dolls come with that many hairs?

The guy never sent the other stuff I asked and I just didn't care anymore and never asked again. It's a coupe. At this point it's a parts car, I can't market it any other way since I couldn't care less about looking into the issue.

Okay. Let me get back to ya in the next couple of weeks. Can you pm me some picks of the car, I also would like to see what the rocker panels look like and what the rear strut towers look like.
