So I've been hanging around the forum searching for trouble shooting to fix typical issues with these cars.
Since I purchased the car it's had a rough idle but nothing major until this week.
The only night my SES light came on, then started flashing which I read means a misfire.
So after researching I read it could be a bad spark plug, wire, coil pack, fuel filter, etc.

I put all new NGK plugs in, new fuel filter and tried Seafoam as well.
Upon puling the plugs I found this one broken which I assumed was gunna be the issue.
After new plugs, new fuel filter and seafoam I took it up to walmart, the car was still running horribly.
Ses light was still flashing, while coasting down hill I revved the car up to 4000 RPM's. The car instantly died.
I tried jumper cables, starting fluid, and pulled a couple plugs to see if there was something evident.

When I turn the key forward it instantly shuts down, It gives a .5 second attempt to start then stops. Won't turn over, even though the car has power, it does nothing.

Has anyone had any issue remotely close to this? The car has 101,500 on it so I'm praying the motor isn't seized.
I purchased this car less then a month ago. I'm really hoping it's not junk.

Any input is very appreciated. Happy Thanksgiving everyone

That sounds like your crank position sensor. Before it died did the rpms drop to 0?

smashed spark plug is usually caused from a chipped piston. aka time for another engine. that smashed plug looks kinda new too. im thinking the last owner knew this already, why he sold it. do a compression test on that cylinder.

    what year make model?

    what gas are your running?

a clogged cat will also cause the cel to flash and feel power less. if its clogged solid it can keep it from running like a potato stuffed in a tail pipe.

I am going to assume that it is a black 2001 gtp.
And yeah the more I look at that plug the more I agree with you scotty.
I bet your piston looks like this.

2001 GTP 101k, I'm running 91, the car has headers and magnaflow exhaust, not to sure if the cat is stock or not.
I was assuming with the plug being broke something in the motor must be messed up.
Sounds like I'm screwed. If it wasn't for bad luck I wouldn't have any.
The car instantly shut off after I revved it up.

look to see if its got a cat, headers dont come with a cat, it would have to be added. most will install a high flow cat with headers if they need one for inspection.

id hit the parts store, rent a compression tester, see what it says. do all the cylinders, so you have some to match the one with a bad plug to.

if it wont fire up with starting fluid it sounds like a spark issue. check that the plug wires are on right, and that the plugs spark.

icm's go bad, the part under the coils.

oh and get it scanned at the parts store too for codes. flashing light should have a code present.

How is he supposed to get the car checked at the parts store if it won't star.
Maybe your engine did what mine did in my silver car and completely seized up.

Still haven't figured out the car. Very frustrating.
So here goes. I've replaced all spark plugs, new fuel filter, new crank position sensor, pulled the alternator and starter had them tested, both Passed.
Checked all fuses, tried a different bigger battery, tried jumping it, tried starting fluid. Nothing.

Motor attempts to turn over very slowly till it gives up. Testing the battery with an ohm meter as soon as you try to start it the battery drops to 8 amps, like I said the starter was tested and passed. It seems like I'm not getting enough power.

Could it be a bad ground? Ignition? Anyone have an ideas or input?

Any advice is appreciated. I'm out of ideas...

battery cables go bad too. see if your getting 12 volts to the starter via the pos cable at the starter.

ground cables also go bad. so make sure the ends are not split open showing bare wire at the end loops where they are bolted down.

if you see bare wire, that could be the issue. dry wire could have set in.
