Hi all. Tonight I have changed the spark plugs on my Grand Prix GT. I used to have a set of NGKs in there and swapped them out for a set of Bosch Platinum +4. The car starts fine, revs fine, taking off slow is fine. But when I punch the gas it surges and take a while to accelerate. I double checked the plug wires for a good connection. What could this be? I thought maybe fuel pump, but would this show up after a plug change? Please help! Extra info: Car has 226 000 km on the clock, its a high way driver, just did tranny flush a week ago.

Ac delco are the best plugs for a stock motor, because thats what the factory plugs are.

Thanks again for the input. My car is stock - a work horse to work and back, 145 km a day for the last 3 years. I'll pick up the Ac delco iridium plugs tonight. I'll post my results tonight.

If that doesn't fix it, check to see if your cat is clogged. I know Iridiums are best for a stock motor but I doubt those plugs would cause a condition like that. We'll see though.

No, you can remove the first 02 sensor on the rear manifold and then run it to see if it makes a large difference, or hit it in a few sports to see if something's rattling in it. It should sound like a hollow bang.

Problem solved! Thanks you for all the replies and advice. There was 2 problems: The first was the front centre spark plug. It had a hair line crack running in the long axis of the plug. I am not sure if it was my bad or damaged when I bought it. That plug was one of the easier ones to do though. The second problem was my bad. The spark plug on the rear bank on the driver side, just above the manifold was hard to find the hole. In my attempt to fish for the hole I collected some dirt and greasiness in the gap. Well, I returned the bosch plugs and got the AC Delco plugs. (Autolites was not available around here) The car runs great now. I live in Edmonton Alberta and my car runs 145 Km every day in winter, snow, -40, +30 in the summer, best car I've ever owned and plan to replace it with another Grand Prix when the time comes. I first want to see this car break 300 000 km. This forum is awesome! All I can say now is that lessons are has been learned and I am great full you guys are able and willing to help. Thanks again!
