I just got my pcm back from zzp for my l67 swapped 98 gp gt so I hooked it up started the car an 5 min into running I got the p0118 code temp sensor is reading -38 degrees. The car I bought an took the motor an trans out of didn't have an engine light on I drovea the car approx. 28 miles before purchasing an no CEL. So I Swapped the sensor in from my l36 still no luck -38 degrees so I bought one from napa still reading -38. I have a cheap non digital ohm/volt meter I set it to the 10v setting tested the connector koeo an koe on the tester isn't great appeared to read around 5v which mean I have power there how do I test the ground or could this be a mistake from zzp?

UPDATE. Today I tested the ect sensor connector with a power probe I have 4.9 to 5 volts on the grey wire steady continous ground on black wire an the red wire with black stripe showed it was a ground but not steady continous ground the light on my power probe flickerd an the voltage would jump from. 0.1 to 0.2 back to 0.0 which made no sense to me seing how the probe showed it as a ground wire

    Any help is greatly appreciated

I would say you have a broken wire to the ect sensor.. Anytime they read -36 or so there is a break or complete open. Usually breaks right at the connector. You should watch the data value and wiggle and push on the wire to see if it changes. May be a bad sensor as well

Two things I can think of on this...

    1. Check your wiring an connectors. The pigtail that hooks to the sensor and then connects up over the valve cover can get bruised up or have issues from being near the exhaust.

    2. If you can, check the OSID of the software on the pcm. Some years may have different pinouts and the OSID is part of the mapping of which pins get assigned to which items.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

How do i check the OSID an i sent my 98 GP GT pcm to zzp for the l67 motor/trans flash for a 99 gtp engine/trans K file do you know if the pinouts change between them years? I emailed zzp an they cant tell me weather they do or not.

An the wire that is flickering on the power probe does that need to be steady?

An for some reason when i look up wiring diagrams for it, its saying it should be a yellow wire an a black wire.

    blk is the sensor return
yello is coolant temp sensor signal
dk green is also a signal.

That's what mitchell an all data was showing them as but mines black, red with black stripe an gray

    Gray : 5v
    Black : ground
Red/ black stripe : tested with power probe showed to be ground but the negavtive symbol on the probe was flickering an volts were jumping 0.1 an 0.2. An back to 0.0

Could red an black be shorted causing it to read like that or go to the temp gauge

Ok so I figured out my problem not long after posting my last thread I did a ac delete on the car so I was pluging my ac pressure switch wire into the temp sensor I guess that what happens when ur buddy unplugs the harness while your not there an is nowhere to be found when ur plugging it back up lol he disconnected the pigtail an had it layed in the parts car.
