Always have since this thread started. DORMAN Part # 47065hp
OOHH yall meant the Canada land store. NVM
epic that i'm getting a set for a better price than you guys in the states are.
The stuff finally arrived. Still waiting for the T-Stat Gasket, probably tomorrow. On these alum elbows, is it okay to just use the o-rings that come with them? They look like pretty decent ones.
i have a 98, that means i have no lower elbow, its a casted elbow off the alt bracket that slips into the timing cover. it needed a new O ring and i used the one off the second unused elbow.
what im saying is they work just fine.
coolant elbows is a 30 minute job really.
take the alt off, pop the 2 hoses off to the heater core, remove the 3 bolts holding it on, and pull on it till the old elbows break, they never seem to come off in one piece, clean out all the holes that the elbows fit into.
oil the O rings and slide them all back together.
Thanks. The job really seems pretty simple. There is a guy on Youtube that did a video on it so I watched it a few times. A buddy of mine has a shop and is going to let me hang out there early to do it. This way I can flush the system with a few gallons of distilled water and replace with the green stuff. He's going to pressure test the system first cause I keep smelling a hint of anti-freeze after driving the car, yet I can't find any leaks anywhere. It just smells for a few minutes and then subsides so I want to be sure that it's not leaking anywhere. I'm driving down to Millville next Friday for vacation and I want to be sure it's okay.
It really is the easiest job in the world, it takes 10-15 minutes max to get it off ya know, and really you don't have to pull the 2 heater hoses off of the tensioner. I've NEVER done that. The tensioner moves just fine with the hoses attached.
you can leave the hoses on, but to clean the alt bracket holes easier why not take it off?
mine was also a dirty mess and i de greased and hosed it off and all that cool kid junk
i think we changed brando's elbows in like 10 mins he tore the tensioner off while i picked the elbow bits out of the ends, lubed them up slipped em in, RTV and done..
Like bosses!!
I've never used rtv and never had a problem. Most of the time it's user error.
