    for under a thousand...
get headers and a 3.4 pulley, a tune and colder plugs. should get you into the 14's.

I vote 1.9 modified rockers and cheap headers. Will give you plenty of umph without breaking the bank.

cam requires you to tear down your motor. until then i would stick with a basic 3.4 setup.

With rockers you won't have to really get in to the engine. Just unbolt the vale covers and stock rockers and thenbolt on the 1.9's. If not going with rockers then a basic 3.4 setup will suit you nicely.

    Leave your thermostat stock.
Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.

    My rockers bored me.

I had 1.84's...shifting at 6k. Tossed them out for an XP.

    Best thing I ever did.
