headers should be your first mod. I wouldn't back off though. With my mods i'm still on the stock trans.

Depends on how much you rely on this vehicle.
If its your daily I'd suggest a new rad, trans cooler lines and built trans before anything else.
If you can live without the car if you break it, I'd just mod away till it breaks while saving a little as you go for the inevitable.
But again, if you anticipate at making 225-250 WHP, the stock trans should be plenty.
A cam or intercooler would bring you into the mid/high 200's, both into the low 300's.
High 200's puts the input shaft at risk.
Low 300's puts the chain at risk.
My input shaft went on my stock 06 base i had before. I wasnt saying start with a trans either I was just pointing out watever I was. Trans cooler lines for sure tho. Soooo easy to do yourself 25ish line from the dealer just make sure you buy the disconnect nut that goes into the cooler/radiator that the hard line clips into. Trust me just buy it and it will save you from having to call your mom to take you to Advanced Auto hoping they have it. Mine just pretty much rusted through and when I tapped it with a wrench snapped in half. Good cheap insurance.
But if your going crazy power built trans
If you want headers let me know, I sold the prix and have a brand new set of speed daddy's sitting in my garage. I will even throw in the manifold gaskets and o2 extension harness.
yeah, well im going to get the headers, just a matter of finding an installation guide
