just put new water pump in so i have some air in the coolant now and the car runs a bit hotter then normal so how do i bleed the system. do i screw the nut ontop of the thermostat til coolant comes out? i started to turn it tonight but wasnt sure how far im suppose to turn it so any help would go a long way thanks guys

the way i do it is to open rad cap, idle car till the fans come on, (that way you know the t stat opened) top off the rad if the level has dropped, open the bleeder screw 2 or 3 turns, till a stream of coolant comes out.
you can also squeeze (softly) the upper hose to get any air that may be caught up in it too.
if this still fails you, you can remove the t stat housing, and pour coolant right into the lim till its full and redo the above steps.

Yeah just let the car run with the cap on, and open the 7mm screw on top should only take like 1/4 turn.

alright its dark now so ill have to wait til the morning to give it a go again but thanks for the help. i tried it earlier but the bleeder nut didnt open i was using just a standard wrench, so would a socket be better? im afraid to screw it too much

okay nevermind now i was screwing the whole bolt i have to screw that small one thats on the very top correct? noob move on my part ha been a long day

Get it open with teh car off first then you can see what needs to be done with it. If you go too far all that happens is the screw nee to be put back in.

okay i bled the line but the car is still kinda running hotter then it was before i changed the pump and coolant elbows before i did the change the hottest i would go is the second line above 160 degree mark now im running right between the 160 and 210 mark so right around 180 185 so is this normal? just not getting why its running at a different temp now

185 is normal for a 180 t-stat. This is just under the second main tick.
If you have a stock temperature t-stat (195) you should be halfway between the second and third main ticks if you're idling for a while, and just above the second main tick if you're moving.
