If you are having a local 3800 genius do it, then they've likely installed a few times in the past. You'll be changing springs and retainers.

You'll need valve cover gaskets, intake gaskets, SC gaskets, valve seals are suggested, and a timing cover gasket. Some Ultra Copper RTV and 2-3 cans of brake cleaner.

Time to complete. This kinda depends on the guy. Some guys are faster than others. This past weekend, I cammed 05CompGman's car. Car is beautiful and I was super careful to be more meticulous than usual. Total install was cam, headers, springs, retainers, and valve seals. Rich dropped off the car and I started into it at 8:30pm on Friday night. At 4pm Saturday he had a text saying it was running. In reality by then it was running, fluids were topped off and it was about to be programmed for the codes necessary. In there I slept. When you think about it though..that's under 20 hours. Some guys take a bit longer. I have all the tools right nearby and have the right tools for the job. When using a close enough tool, it takes longer.

As for cams. I'd suggest either the Intense-Racing S1X or the ZZP XP cam. Those are IMO the most common, best streetable cams out on the market at the moment that I am aware of.
