Ok, got a problem. I am in the midst of top swapping a L26 with only 18k on it to replace my L67 that spun a bearing on my 02 GTP.
I just came across a 1999 L67 and trans with only 52K on it out of a regal GS for 500bucks. It even comes with the PCM. I had to grab it since I was close.

Which one should I put in? I was also going to put a 2002 GT trans in to get the 3.29 gears and use the diff from my current trans. This trans only has 32K on it.

Do Ijust swap in the compete L67 and trans or do I continue the swap and the GT trans.

From reading this forum you gain a little more HP with a topswapped L26 and better gears. But the L67 is a low mile with a direct swap besides the tranny lines.

Im no expert but I know exactly what it do.... Id run the complete L67 and the 3.29 gears and keep the L26 short block for a reserve. Then keep dropping pullies and tuning until you find the limit of your parts combination then if something breaks you have the shortblock waiting. I drive an 02 gt also not modded and from what ive read people like the 3.29s better. I vouch l67 and GT trans. Besides I woundnt even think twice of top swapping when you basically have a complete drop in ready. No messing around with gaskets and reassembly just keep the L26 for a spare. What is this going in anyway??

It is an '02 GP. I can't believe you would tell a guy to just keep dropping pulley sizes till he blows up his motor. That is on the list of some of the most ignant things people have posted here. I tell you what...give me $500 and just go out in the parking lot and light it on fire. Just about the same effect. And it isn't the entire GT trans you want...you want to swap the HD Differential out of the 4T65E-HD one into the GT trans. Another thing is the L67 and L26 are two different compression ratio...you couldn't even possibly think of tossing a higher compression motor into a boosted car without a tune or headers. GO put the L67 back in there...unless you have access to a tuner or want to start sinking money in to go the right route. High Compression is what I would do but it requires work. Not dropping pulley sizes, that's for damn sure.
