Is it possible to run both a supercharger and a turbocharger together???? I always see GP with turbos but they have a supercharger block off plate

Explain.. Whats so pointless? will you lose power? it seems like it wud produce more... or does the turbo by itself create more?

A twin charger is two turbos.. A small turbo running all the time to prevent lag from flooring the pedal and a bigger turbo that kicks in at a higher RPM... thats what twin charged is

There are two ways to do twin turbos. Because they're "twins" that means they're both the same size. One way is to have one running off of each bank of the exhaust. The other is to have them running in series.

Theres no point in twin charge on these cars. You'd have the super pushing air into the engine and when it spun up enough the turbo would push more into the super and be restricted by the super's flow capabilities.

Not many people go super and turbo cept when theres no easy UIM fix like there is on our engines.

twin charged in my opinion is said to be a good thing and a bad.
its good because you always have that quick boost that will always be there with the supercharger and then the pcm shuts the supercharger off when the turbo charger spools up enough to kick in its recomended boost. but people just say go with the turbo charger because it deffinately makes more power then a supercharger even though it might not be there as quickly as a supercharger. but the main problem with twin charged applications is codding the pcm. almost impossible but not implausable. :0)

correct on the tuning aspect being nearly impossible.. but there is no way to "turn the supercharger off" as long as your crank is turning... so is the pulley and the rotors inside the supercharger

Not really. If you want to go really fast, yes. If you want to go fast but don't want any spool lag or the intense cost, super is the best.

to my understanding, too, the turbo is much more efficient because it runs off your exhaust, whereas the supercharger is belt driven meaning it uses horsepower to make horsepower

So the block off plate for the supercharger will stop it from spinning with the crank, with the turbo added, the body of the supercharger jus becomes another tunnel on top of the intake and isnt working right?

Yes, hence people replacing the super with the L26 upper intake. And for more intense builds, custom UIM.

Twin Turbos or Compound Turbos just means two turbos, not necessarily meaning two identical turbos. Usually, twin turbo vehicles run two different sized turbos. One for quick spooling resulting in less lag and one for pure high end horsepower. Twin Charging means one supercharger and one turbocharger. Supercharger provides instant power response for better torque on the low end, and the Turbo takes over on the top end for maximum horsepower. I would take twin turbos over twin charging any day. But, twin charging just has the ultimate sound when combined with a V8.

Then twin turbo has simply become an advertising phrase, not a technical term.
