Getting a little tired of misfire issues on this thing.

    2008 Grand Prix
    3.8L engine

At various times I have replaced all three coils the module they plug into. Daughter just called me said it was shaky when she started it.

Is the coils and module that prone to failure, it seems like every 6 months to a year I am replacing them

I am assuming with the P0305 it is the coil for cylinder #5, is this everyone else's prognosis?

I need some quick help as I need to drive 2 hours to work on it.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks,
    John

could be a bad injector as well.

98 Buick Regal GS, F body brakes, Caddy STS wheels, tinted tails L36 bottom end, lightly ported heads, 1.95 roller rockers, headers, gen 5 N* 3.0 pulley, FSIC, 42 lb injectors, a BrandonHall rebuilt trans, DHP tuned and AEM water/Meth injection https://goo.gl/gpV5kW

Drove 2 hours, brought with me a new coil and an ignition control module. Started it to move it to a better place to work on it and it was as smooth as it should be, my daughter had already cleared the CEL. Considering the distance, I decided to replace the middle ignition coil anyway, cylinder 5. It has not acted up since.

Follow up question, what is the typical life span for fuel injectors on the 3.8L? Got about 140k on it and 14 years old. Thinking about just replacing them, recommendations on injectors?

    Thanks,
    John
